Shelton Healey

Trustee appointed by the Maori Land Court 22 February 2022

Chairperson – Ngāti Te Whiti Whenua Tōpu Trust

Chairperson – Ngāmotu Marae Reservation Trust

Chairperson – Ngāti Te Whiti Hapū Society Inc

I currently serve as Chairperson across our three Ngāti Te Whiti entities – the Whenua Tōpu Trust, Ngāmotu Marae Reservation Trust, and the Hapū Society. Since being appointed by the Māori Land Court in 2022, I’ve been focused on strengthening the foundations of our hapû and helping guide our collective direction forward.

I’ve lived most of my life in Waitara and am deeply committed to seeing Ngāti Te Whiti flourish. One of my biggest aspirations is to see our marae re-established – not just as a physical space, but as a living, breathing place to stand as Ngāti Te Whiti. A place where our whānau can learn who we are, connect to our history, and feel a true sense of belonging.

Before stepping into iwi development, I worked at WITT supporting Māori and Pasifika tauira. I now work for Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Tama in a role that focuses on social and cultural development across the iwi.

My goal is simple – to help create spaces that support our people, strengthen our identity, and ensure that our Ngāti Te Whiti tanga continues to thrive for generations to come.
